How does Dr. Glasser's office care differ from those of commercial stores that sell glasses, contacts, and give eye exams?
Dr. Glasser believes that his primary purpose is to determine the health of the eyes, treat the shortcomings in his patient’s vision, and ensure that the individual is seeing to his or her greatest potential. Many commercial stores have an employed doctor who provides only a rudimentary examination so that the patient can buy glasses, contacts, or both at the store. Dr. Glasser’s key motivation is the well-being of the individual, not selling a product.
What is the difference between an Optometrist, an Ophthalmologist, and an Optician?
An optometrist is a trained doctor, licensed to determine the state of health of the eyes, prescribe medication for eye infections and ailments, and fit and dispense contact lenses and glasses to enhance the visual clarity and ocular performance of the individual.
An ophthalmologist is a trained doctor, licensed to determine the state of health of the eyes, prescribe medication for infections and eye ailments. However, his or her primary function is the medical or surgical treatment of eye disease.
An optician is a trained person, licensed to make or sell eyeglasses and, usually, contact lenses, in strict accordance with the prescriptions of optometrists and ophthalmologists.
Dr. Glasser is one of D.C.’s best optometrists and an expert on computer vision.
What is the benefit of the Optomap Retinal Evaluation instrument?
Optomap is the newest scanning technology that allows the doctor to evaluate the health of your retina, all without the unpleasant effect of dilation or the use of any drops.
